Hi there, my name is Stella and welcome to my food blog!
I firmly believe that anybody can create delicious, comforting, and healthy food. By day, I am a software engineer working full-time with quite a successful career (and I love what I do!). I am not a professional chef. I have no formal culinary training.
Nonetheless, cooking is one of my oldest passions. As a little girl, helping my mom in the kitchen was always fun, never a chore. I baked my first Napoleon cake when I was 8. Over many more years (and many more cakes), cooking has become my hobby, a passion that I can both enjoy myself and share with my family and friends. It is something that I utterly enjoy- often relaxing and therapeutic, sometimes challenging, and always inspiring for me.
I am originally from Russia (it was called the Soviet Union back then), and for many years live in the U.S. Throughout my life, I’ve accumulated recipes from generations of my family, and from my friends and co-workers across different countries and continents. My old family cookbook, still written in my mother’s handwriting (which only I can read), is itching to be translated and shared. I hope to do that through this blog, sharing both the things I’ve learned and the ideas that I have. Though not always fancy, the recipes I will share with you are unique, tasty, practical and healthy.
As someone who immigrated (more than once), it’s very important to me to keep and pass on my family traditions and memories. What better way to do it than through food- one of the biggest pleasures of life (which doesn’t always have to be a guilty one!)
The food we eat is one of the very few things in life we can control. It reflects in our skin, our health, our hearts, our hips, and even the mood in our homes. So let’s make our food a celebration of tastes and traditions, delicious and diverse!
